I have dry brittle hair what can i do to make it healthy again without cutting it?

There is no way to mend split ends (no matter what the adverts say) unless you simply cut them off, however you can treat the dryness by using deep conditioners etc. ...

When you straighten your hair you MUST use heat protection spray, and run the straightners over ur hair quickly...

An alternative to straightening is to have it chemically straightened at a salon but this does damage it, there is NO way of straightening your hair without damaging it.

You can't make your hair grow faster really...but there are certain foods like nuts with proteins that help it to be healthier...

Your options are limited. You have naturally curly hair, and want it to be straight, yet it gets dry and brittle, I assume from constantly trying to straighten it. Now, you could try using massive amounts of hair gel to keep it straight, and keep it from getting brittle, but that could be very messy. I don't know of any way to do this successfully, but I do wish you luck.

You can't make it grow faster. But you do have 2 things you can do.

First, consider a cut that you like and do not have to straighten. Possibly a shorter bob? Ultimately, not straightening will help it be healthier long term.

Second, switch to Pantene conditioner and leave it on while you shower. Then once a month, dump mayonaise on your head, wrap hair in plastic wrap, then a towel. Leave on for thirty minutes. Wash, condition and wow...the softness!

Mayonnaise and egg makes a very good conditioner. Mix mayo and eggs then work the mixture into you hair. Then wrap your hair with Saran wrap. Leave on there for about an hour or so. Then wash and condition hair as you normally do.

The only way I know to make the hair grow faster is to trim the ends. None of this will make your hair straight. I don't know anything non-chemical that will do this.

First, you have to take vitamins to increase the health of your hair, like Vitamin E. Essential fatty acids (flaxseed oil, primrose oil, and salmon oil are good sources) improve hair texture and prevent dry, brittle hair.

Second, use top of the line conditioning shampoo and deep conditioners after every other wash. Wella makes good ones:

There are tonnes of them out there; but if you are having real problems, go to a salon and get a salon version for at least a month, then switch to the cheaper types you can get in the drug store. Sometimes the cheaper ones are better, so you have to buy one type at a time and experiment to see what suits you. This is the home recipe for a deep conditioning treatment:

Next, with the deep conditioner on, wrap your hair in plastic (you can get plastic covers from salons or just use a plastic bag), over that wrap your hair in a warm towel -- you can warm it in a dryer, with an iron, on the radiator, etc. Leave the treatment on for at least an hour. Do this twice a week and make it a routine. The rest of the time, if necessary, use a good standard deep conditioner like Aussie 3 minute miracle:

http://www.aussiehair.com/products/3-min...

Third, after you rinse out the conditioner, put in a no-frizz conditioning gel that you do not rinse out and let your hair air dry. You have to stop using a straightening iron and stop using hairdryers etc. Let it dry naturally.

Other good leave in treatments:

Finally, when your hair is dry, use this stuff. Try changing brushes til you find one that tames your hair, it might be necessary to get a natural bristle brush:

You might want to change the way you brush your hair as well:

Keep doing this for awhile, and you will find things get sorted out. You should also get a few trims which will encourage new hair to grow and will diminish the overall brittle look. Some stylists also add finishing glosses and other conditioning treatments to the ends on top of everything else.

What is the secret to great hair? besides the obvious healthy diet, exercise, water etc?

Random people come up to me at least every other week and tell me I have beautiful hair. Although flattering, it's strange. Here's what I do(besides the "obivous"):

Don't dye it.

Don't wash your hair too much. I only do it every 3-4 days on average. It keeps your scalp/hair from being stripped of essential oils.

Don't overbrush it. When I do brush it and I have a knot I hold the hair just above the knot to avoid breakage.

Don't blow dry it.

Use a moisturizing conditioner and shampoo.

Get a 3 minute deep moisture conditioner to use once a week.

When you wash it, make sure you massage your scalp to stimulate blood flow which will keep it healthy.

Make sure you rinse out all of the shampoo/conditioner.

Don't be rough when you towel dry it. I never rub it I just squeeze the water out of my hair and wrap my head in the towel.

Keep your shampoos natural and don't ruin it by using a (hot) hair dryer.

How do I keep my hair looking healthy?

Making it healthy is a lot better than making it LOOK healthy.

A proper diet comes first. Foods rich in protien help in making your hair thicker and fuller.

For the vanity sides of things, check your hair present hair type. Dry hair needs more conditioner than shampoo. Frizzy hair has specific shampoos for use...

Brittle hair is remedied by combing hair properly, and strengthening conditioner.

Brushing hair is okay. Avoid using metal combs. Corrosion is bad for hair strands. ((thats what I heard)) and while your hair is wet, try finger combing it first.when its just.. damp.. that's the time to use a big toothed plastic comb. When its sorta dry, brush it.

Keep track of what hair products fit your hair. Once in a while change it. Your hair turns stringy and...well, unpleasntly stiff if it sorta gets used to the products that you are using.

*word of caution, there are different ways to treat different types of hair. try consulting a parlor shop person for tips. They are there to help you. ^^

How can I regrown hair naturally? someone overprocessed it at the salon. i lost like the top layer!?

i know damaged hair cant be fixed and I know it takes time to regrow. what is the best way to stimulate hair to grow? any secrets to healthy hair? I know the obvious answers, like dont color it, dont use dryers and heat, but what can I do nutritionally and naturally to help growth? thanks!!

How can I regrown hair naturally? someone overprocessed it at the salon. i lost like the top layer!?

Eat healthy, work out, and live healthy. Until then, use the trusty K-Pak by Joico and deep condition it at least once a week. I would make sure the manager of the salon knows your hair was overprocessed there, too. They need to know what their stylists are doing. If someone complained that I overprocessed and ruined their hair, I know I'd get to at *least* listen to my manager for about a week.

Does vegetables or healthy foods help make facial hair grow?

No. Facial Hair growth is due to testosterone in the body. Unless you can find a food that contains testoterone (0% chance of that by the way), you'll just have to let your body grow more. Now, if you're already well over 21, which is the age that the average male stops growing, I suggest seeing a doctor for testosterone therapy. Also keep in mind that some men just don't grow facial hair. Native Americans, for example.

Vitamins for keeping my hair, skin and nails healthy.....?

I just recently started taking B12 for an energy boost and my hair and nails are growing like crazy. I usually get my roots done every 5-6 weeks and I am getting them redone this week and it has only been 3 weeks. As far as my nails go, they used to be brittle and wouldn't grow but now they are shiny and strong.
