How do I keep my biracial daughters hair healthy? I have spent much time and money and it is still v

I have 2 biracial children....I found that the African American hair care line from Pantene works great (and is much less expensive then some brands). The use the moisturizing shampoo (extremely important that any shampoo you use is moisturizing), conditioner, deep conditioner (which is rinse out) Most of the time i brush through it when it's wet and either let it air dry or braid it while it's wet. I use their oil moisturizer creme on their hair and their scalp when i style their hair.

Wash it sparingly because this can over dry the hair. I also wash their hair soon after swimming to remove the chlorine. I tend to keep their hair in braided ponytails because it is more manageable. But by all means keep it brushed out (I use a pretty stiff brush like one made of boar hair) to so i can brush it all the way through and it works good on tangles. As you've already discovered, once it gets unruly it seems impossible to get under control again.

And last but not least, if your child has processed hair (relaxer, etc) be sure that only the regrowth hair is processed when touch ups are done. Double processing the hair can cause it to break off.

You can IM me in Yahoo! at jennylee_72 if you have any more questions! Good Luck!!!

If it is frizzy (I'm guessing it is), and hasn't been messed with chemically before, it is sometimes helpful to get a Japanese straightening. That CAN be harmful (and $$$), but it makes the care of the hair so much easier and less damaging. You DO have to keep doing it, though.

Don't wash it too often. Use loads of conditioner and you need a leave in conditioner. Also keep it braided so it doesn't get all fly away. My daughter's got light strawberry coloured hair but it is very coarse and dry. I brush conditioner into her hair even after she is out of the tub or shower. It never looks greasy.

A good diet is very important. You have to repair first what is within. Biracial or not, a healthy diet brings out a healthy glow.. And if you are using hair products, check for chemicals that would do more harm to their hair than good...

I find Sally Beauty Supply carries the best for Ethnic Hair care section. They are stronger in moisturizers. I use there hand cream myself one of the best. When I really need a deep conditioner that is where mine comes from. Just ready the labels/ or ask a clerk to help you I'm sure they can fix the problem. Not only am I a stylist but worked for Sally's at one time too. Good Luck.

Sorry about all the jerks with the stupid answers

Pantene works great u can use the black or white product, but make sure they are hydrating. If your daughter has very curlly hair try Ms. Jessie's curling pudding ( the link in below). Also there a new product on the market called You Straight it's sold at walgreens, CVS and the likes. It has shampoo, conditioner, and other straightening products.

Good luck and remember her hair need lots of moisture and braid it or plait it or just put it in loose ponytails witht he ends secured or rolled. before she goes to sleep or she'll wake a mess of tangles that will cause crying at comb out time. It's easier to comb when wet too.
