What are your tips for nice, healthy, shiny hair?

The first half is from my 'SEVENTEEN' magazine,

the other half is written by me. Good luck!

Shampoo gently, you want a clean scalp and strands.

That doesn't mean scrubbing with super-strong shampoo,

because that can strip the natural oils in your hair that give

it a sheen. Wash hair only two to three times a week. On off

days, rinse with warm water, then condition the ends if you have straight hair, and your whole head if you have curly hair.

Wash just the roots, you don't really have to wash your ends, they're the driest part and applying shampoo directly to them dries them out even more.

A glossy finish comes from having lots of moisture. So use a daily conditioner with natural moisturizers like fruit extracts, to help wash out your product buildup and give your locks shine. Before applying conditioner, squeeze any excess water from your hair so it doesn't dilute the ingredients.

--------------------------------------...

My suggestions are to use heat protectant when you use hot tools, and maybe to try a glossy finisher or Pantene Pro-V Ice Shine.

And visit this link, it's really helpful.

Redken is pretty expensive (at least fourteen bucks

for a teensy bottle of shampoo) - so just get products

that do the same things.

Try using a hair mask. You can get these at your drugstore

or Wal-Mart and they only cost about two or three bucks! Plus,

use shine serum but don't go crazy - you don't have to do some wild style every day. It dries your hair out - trust me, I've been there and DONE THAT. My hair usually gets frizzy too, so I use what's called a "boar brush" - these ones are usually more expensive. And I use gel. When I don't wash my hair since I don't wash it on a daily basis, I use moisturizing cream, and pomade to keep my hair from frizzing.

But anyways, the link! Here it is

Good luck with getting shiny hair :)

Hope I helped.

i love john freda. i use their conditioner/shampoo and serum. works wonders.

when I'm on a budget i go for herbal essences or sunsilk.

when i want to splurge definitely go for matrix smooth and shine.

products to get:

a clarifying shampoo(use every other day)

a deep conditioner(use once a week)

shine serum(every time you shower)

a finishing shine spray(for styling)

also if you want really shiny hair try a shine glaze(once a week)

some tips for shinier hair:

only condition your ends if you have medium to thin hair. if your hair is thick condition your whole head.

use a bristle brush, to distribute the oils from your roots to add nation shine.

shower in warm water, not hot, it won't be so dry.

rinse your hair in cold water.

never put any type of food in your hair! it makes it stink!

also get regular hair cuts, to reduce split ends.

avoid styling daily.

try air drying your hair.

some tips from my hairstylist for healthy shiny looking hair is to:

- Make a conditioning hair mask mostly by:

using an egg conditioning mask but i know this sounds groose but really eggs nuturalize your hair to make it shiny and soft.

the steps are to:

- first have one egg and i teaspoon of lemon juice

- then whisk the egg by itself until frothy (meaning a bit bubbly)

- wet your hair before applying the conditioning hair mask!!!

-when the egg is frothy add the lemon juice and work the mask over your scalp and down to the ends of your hair (you can just pour it slowly onto your hair)

- then cover your hair with a shower cap and let the mask for 10 to 15 minutes

- if you do not have a shower cap or you want to intensify the treatment just take an out of the dryer towel and wrap it around your head turban style (a warm damp towel also works)

- Rinse your hair with WARM water ONLY so you wont have the egg sticking to your hair as scrambled eggs!

- then shampoo it thoroughly then condition

For shampoo and conditioner I recommend sleek look smoothing system by Matrix ( in orange bottles-available from your hair dresser) I also reccomened usuing Joico K-Pak recontrustion Split End Mender twice a week (available at your hair dresser), Fekkai Glossing Cream every day (from Bath and Body Works). I use both of them and they are amazing. The glossing cream adds alot of shine and makes hair looking soft, just try not to put it near your roots. The Joico K-Pack has two things, a reconstruction and a mendor. The reconstruction you put on damp hair after washing it and leave in for 5 minutes then rinse out. The mendor you put on towel dryed hair after you do the other and you leave it in. Then after your done drying, straightening, or curling your hair I suggest you use the glossing cream. If you do that your hair should be nice, healthy, shiny, and beautiful :)

I heard that a simple way you can do w/o spending a dime is use SALT. Just apply some to your damp hair, let it sit for 2 minutes and wash it off...
